IJmuiden forms a useful entry point to this region, especially for those from the UK's East Coast, with most visitors heading to Amsterdam to enjoy the novelty of mooring in the centre of a major European capital for just a few Euros and enjoying all the cultural attractions on offer there. The west coast of the IJsselmeer is the other must-see part of this region, with its traditional and historic harbours still oozing the charm of the Golden Age.
