The sprawling conurbation of Zaanstad is effectively a suburb of Amsterdam but there are still pockets of historical interest, such as the original village of Haldersbroek, and the museum village at Zaanse Schans. For shopping and facilities stop at Zaandam. View Zaanstad in a larger map
